Breastfeeding Preparation

Maternal and Infant Wellbeing Melbourne offers a comprehensive antenatal breastfeeding preparation class covering all things lactation from basic human anatomy and physiology, through to how to feed your baby, trouble shooting common breastfeeding challenges and so much more. You’ll come away from your class feeling empowered to give yourself and your baby the best possible start to feeding. Our class uniquely covers some of the more practical aspects of breastfeeding including breastfeeding fashion, breastfeeding and sex, breastfeeding and self care.

Prenatal Yoga Class
In Person with Bonnie Maplestone
Bonnie Maplestone is a Yoga teacher of over 20 years experience 18 of those in prenatal and postnatal yoga.
As well as being a yoga teacher she is also a doula and a qualified and practicing Osteopath. Bonnie works with each woman to find out how yoga can best support them.
Bonnie is able to modify the class to accommodate any adjustments or goals you have for your pregnancy. It is very important to her that you work from a place of safety and comfort and that you get your questions answered.

Postnatal Classes
Little Senses Playgroup
In Personwith Andrea Hunt
Join us for our weekly sensory playgroup, where your little one can explore in a safe, play-based environment while you connect with other parents. Enjoy a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere with time for general Q&A, connection, and meaningful bonding with your baby. Your baby will have the opportunity to play, discover, and engage through sensory experiences, while you build connections with other parents in a supportive space. Sessions are held in the Lounge space at MIWM and are suitable for babies from birth to 9 months.

(No class on March 9th due to the public holiday.)

Babywearing & Yoga Course
In Personwith Bonnie Maplestone and Sarah Mahri
Our 6-week Babywearing & Yoga Class is designed to gently support you as you reconnect with your body after birth, while keeping your baby close and supported.
These postnatal sessions are led by our qualified yoga teacher, Bonnie Maplestone, and Babywearing Educator, Sarah Mahri, helping you to move safely while building confidence in your structured carrier.
You will learn how to opimise positioning, ensure correct carrier fit, and move together with your bub. Babywearing fit checks are performed with Sarah Mahri at the beginning and end of the course.
Suitable for babies 2-10 months, clients must bring their own structured carrier to each session.
Casual passes are available for clients already fitted by Sarah Mahri for babywearing.

Mums and Bubs Yoga
In Person with Bonnie Maplestone
Join us for our Mum & Bubs Yoga Class, a nurturing in-person session designed especially for mothers and their little ones from 6 weeks until crawling. This gentle class weaves together yoga for mums, simple and supportive movements for babies, and beautiful partner poses you can enjoy together.
Mums will have the chance to stretch, strengthen, and reconnect with their bodies in a relaxed and understanding environment, while bubs are supported through age-appropriate movements that encourage bonding and early development.
If your baby is slightly younger or older than the recommended age range, please reach out to Bonnie to chat about whether this class is the right fit for you both.

Infant Massage Class
In Person with Nardia Saunders
This is the perfect way to strengthen that special connection between you and your baby. This 45 minute class teaches parents and carers the healing art of infant massage with their babies 3 weeks to 12 months old.

Join our experienced dietitian Kat for a practical, evidence-based masterclass designed to support you through the introduction of solids. This session outlines current feeding recommendations and key nutrition considerations, helping you make informed decisions based on your baby’s developmental stage and individual needs.
You’ll learn how to recognise signs of developmental readiness, introduce foods safely, and understand the role of different nutrients during early feeding.

We’re thrilled to announce that MIWM will be hosting Rhythm First Aid’s Infant + Child First Aid course. With numerous inquiries from new parents seeking first aid information for their babies, we’re excited to facilitate this invaluable course.
This course will cover course includes CPR, choking, anaphylaxis, asthma, seizures fever, head injuries, burns, drowning, rashes, pain relief, bleeding + more.

The Circle of Security Parenting program offers a warm and supportive space to better understand your child’s needs and your own experience as a parent.
The Circle of Security Parenting (COSP) program is an evidence-based, internationally recognised program developed from decades of attachment research. It helps caregivers understand and respond to their child’s emotional needs in a way that builds a secure relationship.Through a supportive and reflective approach, COSP helps parents strengthen their relationship with their child, while also exploring how their own upbringing and patterns may influence their parenting.
Suitable for parents with a child aged approximately between 4 months and 6 years old. Applications to participate can be requested via the link below!
